My various ramblings and opinions as I hyperfixate on Gambit

Comics(hopefully in chronological order, I tried my best)

Issues with early life flashbacks

A stamp

Gambit (1999) #1

This one gets to go first cause baby Remy shows up "born with an angel's smile and the devil's eye"
Also there's a excerpt of Sinister's journal that gives Remy's whole timeline

A stamp

Gambit (1999) #1

Love the heist!
there's also baby Remy lore wrt the antiquary and velvet ministry
Boathouse era Gambit ;n;

A stamp

Uncanny X-men #12

Flashback to him getting into life long debt to The Vig. Trust issues starting early for this lil guy. lil baby remy is so cute, i sure hope nothing bad every happens to him....

A stamp

Gambit (1999) #5-7

oh NO baby Etienne and Gambit,,,
they're so baby and SO cocky and it's gonna go SO bad for them;;

A stamp

X-Men 1991 #33

I'm putting this one at the beginning as well as in order cause I'm trying to organize these mostly chronologically and while this takes place later it's also a pretty early flashback

Main Stories

A stamp

Uncanny X-Men #266

I love his introduction so much. Doing crime, saving kids, life is a fuck, 10000 crimes. I'm glad they changed his power colors from green to pink though

A stamp

Uncanny X-men Annual #14

Joins the x-men with Storm, he literally shows up with Storm, banters for a couple of pages, gets called handsome by Cable, then is standing ominously in the background the rest of the time.

A stamp

Gambit (2022)

He loves to adopt lost children
The background characters in this are so cute, also some very good character moments and I need to read it again, I have so many screenshots saved up for this run.

A stamp

Gambit (2022)

A lot of fun moments in this comic but I really like the throwaway comment that tells us where Gambit got his trademark magenta armor: Lila Cheney. Also he's so willing to go into space and live there forever with his friend he's known for like, a month? Except he does have to stay and babysit storm.

A stamp

Uncanny X-Men #273

Great for establishing initial relationships between Gambit and the rest of the team. "...bang... you dead."
He's such an asshole early on I love it, I'm organizing these chronologically but reading in a different order. Which makes it really funny to try and get a grasp on his characterization, cause it gradually fluctuates so much over time. I like to think he's purposfully misleading people, deception king.

A stamp

Uncanny X-Men #279

He gets an official x-men outfit! He's also an asshole! I think they're all being semi-mind controlled iirc but I'll be honest I skimmed this one. He fights Wolverine a bunch

A stamp

X-Men annual(1991)

Fun lil training mission, then mojo shows up and shit goes down. I really enjoy the art in this one. I don't so much enjoy the era of Gambit flirting with an unreceptive rogue so much that it's pretty much sexual harrasment.
there is a handy map of the x-mansion which i make a note of for future reference.

A stamp

X-Men#4 (1991)

Basketball goat
he's just having fun!
Also he and Rogue try to go on a date and she wears that specific red dress

A stamp

X-men #5-7

Not a lot happens in these but I do need to note that Gambit calls Logan "short lil fella" and Rogue calls Gambit "loverbayou" and that seemed important to document.

A stamp

X-Men #8-9 (1991)

This is when Belladonna shows up first and I enjoyed it, I still can't find where the arc continues. Supposedly "Ghost Rider #12" but I cannot find it. What happens to the kids??
Also Bishop and Gambit bond a bit. And by that I mean fight and then accidentally throw a charged homemade boysenberry at Rogue and she gets pissed. (I would too tbh)

rogue and belladonna stamp

Ghost Rider #26(1990)

I FOUND IT!
I haven't read it yet but I DO have it and I WILL read it soon.
The one page I did read has Belladonna and Rogue referencing off-page bonding, love to see it.
they should kiss?

A stamp

X-Men 1991 #33

Love the Remy and Sabretooth backstory, I do think that Remy should look more like an 18 yr old in the flashbacks tho.
Since this is told from Sabretooth's perspective I like to think there's some wiggle room in what actually happened. But on the other hand i also like that Remy's big thieves guild thesis heist is just he seduces somebody and makes Henri hang out with him for several weeks while he does. It's also a very good reality check for Remy, so I think it all tracks. He got too cocky with it!

A stamp

Gambit (1993)

Gambit goes to New Orleans to fuck up Candra and avenge Henri. Belladonna and Julien are revealed as alive. Belladonna looses her memories. Rogue gets a few of Belladonnas memories.
Rogue Keeps chasing him and then getting scared and withdrawing when he tries to meet her. Of course he doesn't think he deserves to be happy so he doesn't communicate.
Also the tithing happens
Everybody SO mean to him and he JUST wants to help but he's gonna be broody about it.

A stamp

X-Men 1991 #41

First romy kiss!
Cause the world is ending so might as well get 'em while the gettings good!

A stamp

X-Men 1991 #45

Oooh the theatre fight, I have Opinions and Thoughts and Words and Ideas. But I don't feel like re-reading rn so I shall put those down in the romy section later probably

A stamp

X-Men 1991 #46-47

Gambit and Bishop hang out! father-son bonding...
slaps them, these guys can fit so many trust issues in them.

A stamp

X-men

I think Cannonball and Gambit should be friends. There's one scene in issue #xxx where Sam hustles the entire table of X-men by playing up the country bumpkin act. Everybody falls for it except Gambit. In the final hand Remy has a better hand than Sam, but rather than win he charges the final card and blows up the table. Then he concedes the pot to Sam. What a play!! outstanding move! There ARE easier ways to let somebody win, but noooo, he MUST explode the whole table and lower everybody's opinions of him.

A stamp

Uncanny x-men #347-350

They're so mean to my boy. I really enjoyed the strange dynamic between him, Joseph, and Rogue. I feel like it showed his combination of being jealous of Joseph, but also he doesn't really try to sabotage Joseph, in fact he goes out of his way to vouch for him multiple times. And then later, when everyone else is celebrating, he doesn't go to the party and instead DIGS GRAVES ALL NIGHT. And THEN, when Beast is like "why so stinky?" he deflects in the MOST suspicious way possible. my GUY what are you doing??
Also interesting parallel of Rogue and Joseph at the party being like "damn, feels weird to celebrate after how many people died, ah well, what can we do?" smash cut to Gambit DIGGING GRAVES ALONE...brb going insane

Trial of Gambit

>:(
I need to get screenshots for gambit origins (2009)cause I've misplaced mine, but I mostly have thoughts about the mutant massacre so I'll put them here for now: (well I also have Sinister thoughts but those need to percolate more): My main beef is how the fuck did he not figure out what they were gonna do down there. My favorite headcanon for that is from Blind Sight (by Valerie J.) The basic gist is Sinister told Gambit that he was putting together the Marauders and going through the tunnels to kill the X-Men. And then he secretly had the Marauders kill the Morlocks to create a split between Gambit and the X-Men because he didn’t want Gambit to join them (and if he did, then this would either eventually drive a wedge between him and the X-men or give Sinister a blackmail material). Another cool theory I've seen (that neatly wraps up some continuity issues from the retcon) is that he actually wasn't involved in the massacre, but he DID do another secret fucked up thing and Sinister implanted false memories to overwrite what he actually did. Coulda happened! We don't know! As always I KNOW I could just ignore canon, but for me, the real challenge is to make everything make sense AND also work with canon. Sometimes I will ignore shit tho, its MY website I get to make the rules.

A stamp

Gambit (1999) #.5

Ok so new son AND green spirit saved him?
He hates to have evil people do him favors and then making him do fucked up shit in return.
but it KEEPS happening to him...

A stamp

X-men #70

This is where Rogue tells the rest of the team that Remy is dead "to her at least" and then. Does anybody ask any more questions? not that I've seen!
Tho it did seem to be a very stressful situation and I guess everybody else assumed they had a lovers tiff somewhere besides antarctica so Remy would be fine.
Also I think this is where the quencies of him stealing stuff for new son turn up.

A stamp

Gambit (1999)annual?

God he's so blorbo, boy was raised catholic and now he has martyr disease. They abandoned him and he still just wants to go back. Weeping and Wailing and Gnashing of Teeth

A stamp

Gambit (1997)

Is this the one with the hot italian priest that Gambit wants to kiss? It is the one directly after he comes back from antarctica
Also it puts his thoughts in card deck shaped thought bubbles and i love it.

A stamp

Uncanny X-men #361

Ohhhh Remy alive reveal. I really like this scene, the angst is SO juicy. He shows up and he thinks he's helping but for some reason they're helping the juggernaut and then Storm is miffed cause he was alive and didn't tell her and HE'S miffed cause he naturally assumed nobody gave a fuck.
and they're FRIEnDS but there's no TRUST
AUGHHHH
The characterization of Gambit as really smug and nonchalant WORKS (for me) cause he's GOTTA be putting up a brave front. I mean the narration explicitly calls him "a mutant with everything and nothing to lose"

A stamp

X-men #81

Remy and Rogue reunite and 'make up' I did not enjoy how they played that. There is so much delicious angst to be had during the whole putting gambit in time-out in the boat house.
Gambit tries to explain himself but ROGUE is the one thats mad?? he's apologizing to her??

A stamp

X-Men #82-#83

REALLY bold of Rogue to mock Gambit for not being able to keep warm. ESPECIALLY considering I'm p sure he can use his powers to keep warm and also she DID abandon him in Antarctica
The miscommunication in this is SO POTENT
He also gets beat up a lot in #83

A stamp

Gambit (1999) annual #2

Archangel stuff, I need to re-read, I wasn't paying attention the first time ig.
Oh! they did do a double cross on new son and that was awesome

A stamp

Gambit (1999) #1

Love the heist!
there's also baby Remy lore wrt the antiquary and velvet ministry
Boathouse era Gambit ;n;

A stamp

Gambit (1999) #2

Gambit and Storm!!!!
Why does he have a parachute built into his chestplate, that CAN'T be comfortable
Whoever Fontanelle is she keeps probing into the dreams of Remy's family
"Remy's basic conflict -- cool professionalism vs. angst-ridden emotionalism " He's always doing this
The disparity between his code of honor and his moral code is so juicy. He HAS to do bad things for new son cause he owes him his life, but he feels BAD cause he KNOWS he's not doing the right thing

A stamp

Gambit (1999) annual #1

I didn't care for the whole green spirit succubus arc, it could've been much more interestingly done imo. Also I think Sinister should've saved him from Antarctica!!! What a compelling and narratively satisfying way to use the reveal of his involvement with Sinister!! But noooo ... they did it bad and WORSE, they did it boring.
They could've at least made the spirit more fucked up...
Actually it was pretty fucked up but they could've ACKNOWLEDGED that fact more.
sometimes his eyes are green and I think that's cause they were still back and forth on his power color scheme but I like to think it's some fucked up after-effects of the spirit.
Rogue FINALLY apologizes for abandoning him, he hits her with the "I know", her ass is not forgiven

A stamp

Gambit (1999) #5-7

oh NO baby Etienne and Gambit,,,
they're so baby and SO cocky and it's gonna go SO bad for them;;

A stamp

X-Men #85-#90

I think there's so much potential in Marrow and Gambit's relationship, the betrayal, the mentorship, the guilt, the support, it's all there. In this issue Gambit accidentaly hurts Marrow cause the rules of physics were different for a bit. Everybody else is content to just let her deal with the injuries but Gambit sneaks off (also they're on an alien planet and in the past) and finds her a healing pod. Also calls out Xavier on valuing 'his' X-men more than the ex-morelock. I don't know how accurate that is but I do appreciate that Gambit isn't afraid to speak his mind. Although he does walk it back after, I choose to believe he does that so that people won't try and stop him from taking Marrow to get help.
I like the conceptual idea of Marrow's glow-up, cause, iirc, her mutation caused her a bunch of distress. But this was the '90s and I don't like the new design, also they took away her crunchy font :(
I like the romy bits in #91
#92 He is Out Of There, if it sucks, hit the bricks. I think he should've taken Marrow and done a x-23 style roadtrip

A stamp

Gambit (1999) #8-10

He's SO good at breaking into the mansion, love that for him.
I like that he and Greycrow are still on, if not good terms, then at least "don't kill each other" terms
Gambit and Courier should kiss(spoilers, they do kiss later)
idk why but witness!gambit is just so funny to me...old man

A stamp

Gambit and Bishop: Sons of the atom

LOVE them!! so silly, please bring back their relationship.
Rip the Witness, raised this kid but he grows up to be a cop....

A stamp

Gambit and Bishop: Sons of Atom

Gambit and Bishop sometimes have the same color of energy and I NEED somebody to expand upon their whole fucking buckwild relationship. Is Gambit gonna transcend time and become the Witness??

A stamp

X-Men #109

Gambit (former) snow boy confirmed???
also destiny diaries arc
good romy bits

A stamp

X-Men #158

Remy gets blinded (mean to him...)
questionable depections of Asian characters, reeks of orientalism imo
There's some fun school shenanigans in the issue before this.
also... flying the plane blind???? or did he just want to sit in the pilots seat??
he should probably be SO careful throwing cards around blind, evidence for extra kinesthetic senses as a treat.
He and Rogue seem to be pretty solid during this run, probably cause it's not focused on them

A stamp

X-Men #165

Gets his sight back! Also gets tricked into kissing someone cause she pretended to be Rogue...in order to heal him but still.
I like that he didn't get too angsty about losing his sight.

A stamp

Gambit Vol 4 (2004)

A stamp

X-Men #171

ok i need to read this again cause my only notes are "leave him alone!!!!!"
He is teaching!! love that for him
compelling romy, Emma is giving them psychic therapy and it's going,,, bad
aw this is so fucked up i love it!! Mystique was posing as a student trying to seduce remy, completely failed, then tried to seduce him as rogue??
once again I feel like Gambit deals with so many double standards wrt what he can lie about, very fair for people to be mad at him for not telling them it was mystique, but also,,, can you blame him? I would ALSO want to stop thinking about that situation as quickly as possible and never talk about it. Also people are way less mad at Mystique, tbf they don't trust her, but still.
Mystique so mean to my boy :(
Rogue's self-doubt really shows itself here, I like the way she tries so hard to be trusting but everything is working against them.

A stamp

X-Men #183-187

Apocalypse arc
"I don't seem to be listened to anymore, somehow I've been relegated..." they're mean to my boy!!! he's going evil mode!!!
Tricked!! he didn't mean to go evil mode he just wanted to stick close to apocalypse to keep an eye on him!! Tragically he did go evil mode anyway... rip

A stamp

X-23

This man CANNOT stop adopting kids. It means so much to me that Storm saw Laura having a hard time, did her best to help, realized that she couldn't help, and thought "y'know who's great with Teenagers With Issues? My best friend REMY who raised me for six months when I was temp baby" and then called Remy, in my opinion she didn't even have to ask him to help. She just said "Hello, how have you been, I am well but one of my students is having problems" and Remy was already packing.

A stamp

X23

He and Laura are such good friends I adore them so much!!!
Absolutely amazing run, I miss this Gambit.

A stamp

King of Thieves

I like when he and hawkeye meet. I don't know if they have beef outside of this one run, but I do feel like this writer in particular really thought it was funny to pit them against eachother. They were right, it's so fucking funny. Poor hawkeye...

A stamp

King of Thieves

Fence has done nothing wrong ever. YES he drugged Gambit but like,,, as a friend
Also holy shit Gambit powering the iron man suit with just his kinetic energy is SO cool, i love absolutely batshit applications of his power...

A stamp

King of Thieves

I really like this one, he does cool shit! He's just a little guy! people keep giving him positions of authority and he's doing his best FUCK
This also takes place when Rogue is on the avengers iirc

A stamp

King of Thieves

He's getting in his superhero getup Specifically to stir shit up in the villian bar he's going to, I love him.
CRAZY that hm being the king of thieves gets brought up 1(one) time and then NEVER again. could they blease give me some crumbs,,,, in my heart he is delegating to Fence and Courier and his dad. So he keeps getting calls and emails and texts about thief shit but it just so happens that it never happens 'on-screen'

A stamp

All New X-Factor

So fucked up this got cancelled a decade ago it's gotta be one of my favorites. He is a little shit!
COMPELLING dynamics with most of the team, Lorna and Pietro especially. I love Danger so much also, does she show up anywhere else?

A stamp

All New X-Factor

He and Pietro,,,, home of sexual?? ohhhh Remy would be so good with Luna

A stamp

Deadpool Vs. Gambit

Not much depth to his character but it was fun
I was reading this and thinking, huh, this guy looks a lot like Fat Cobra, kinda wish they would diversify the character designs, and THEN, it WAS him!

A stamp

Deadpool V. Gambit

I really do love the art int his. Gambit's big crooked nose I love you so much. I also love the canonical fact that Deadpool and Gambit are used to teaming up together for crimes. Underutilized fact.

Uncanny x-men (2024)

After he stole the eye from the dragon I had such high hopes but the writer is not focusing on Gambit, which is fine, but she abandoned my BOY
at least he had like, a single page, of mentoring Calico, it is what he does best.

A stamp

Uncanny x-men (2024)

Anime ass cover I love it. They really will have artists draw the absolute best covers with incredibly cool concepts and then the issue itself will Never look at that concept with a ten foot pole.

A stamp

Uncanny x-men #10(2024)

I think their outfits are SWAG but the color palletes should be SWAPPED.
also return of the king(his silly orange sunglasses, which I fully believe he kept from the Serval days)

A stamp

Uncanny x-men #11(2024)

I really like this one specific panel. they're just lil'-' '-'
Anyway I think Gambit would never? Would he risk seriously injuring a child cause Rogue told him to? I feel like he wouldn't. I get what they're going for, "ohhh, kids these days, they don't know what we've been through they're not ready for the world we GOTTA traumatize them" but.... it would be more effective if they didn't JUST almost die. And Logan started this sequence by saying "you've had to grow up quick..." And it doesn't even work to sow interesting discord, cause Logan agrees that Rogue "had to do it" and all that Remy says is "you showed her she wasn't ready, now she knows"

A stamp

Uncanny x-men #11(2024)

Uncanny x-men #12(2025)

THE RETURN OF THE KING!!!!
I'm leaving my opinions of the last issue up, but I do think they resolved it very well in this issue. HOWEVER they really did not have to do that still? like, Jitter JUST had to do an emergency surgery on Deathdream, was that not enough motivation to get good? Like I know I'm not really up to date on what's happened to them recently and I don't have a solid grasp on rogue's character, but was this really an issue she had? or did they just give her a character flaw and then resolve it? who can say...
ANYWAY
The BEST BOY RETURNS
I really liked this issue!! gave Remy some time to shine, fleshed out some backstory without retconning, a cool fight scene, relatively low stakes, crawfish boil, it's got it all!

A stamp

Uncanny x-men #12(2025)

hey how much is Remy sleeping? he was up late enough to talk to Jitter without Rogue knowing, then got up at least as early as 4:30 to watch Jitter training... sir are you well?(I hope not)
I think they're making Deathdream too... naive? silly? something about how he's being characterized doesn't sit well with me.
I like Calico's Mutant&Proud t-shirt

A stamp

Uncanny x-men #12(2025)

I also enjoy that we get Remy's POV and can really see how insightful he is, and how much behind the scenes work he does to keep the team functioning

A stamp

Uncanny x-men #12(2025)

I would murder for baby Remy, and I wouldn't even demand a cut of his earnings.
One of my few quibbles with this issue is that when the one bully Remy beats up says he'd mess with Belladonna there's NO indication that she could murder him without breaking a sweat, I get that that's not the point of that exchange but still... ALSO the bullies were in the assassins guild so they should KNOW she was off-limits even if she couldn't more than hold her own.

A stamp

Uncanny x-men #12(2025)

I really like the Vig's design!(except I don't think he should have hair, or it should look different, it doesn't vibe with the crocodile aesthetic he's got going on)
Also shoutout to the green tracksuits as a nod to the classic green batshit assassin's guild armor.
But 25% is an EGREGIOUS amount for a lifelong debt, Vig,,, my guy,,, he's the prince of thieves,, start at a lower percentage and just rake it in over time, no reasonable thief with Gambit's powers, influence, connections, and skills would pay up 25% for long. I would say that I can't believe he payed Vig for that long but I totally buy it, Remy would grin and bear it.
Also I had to learn about sports betting to see if there was any deeper meaning to his name, it's just a thing that's factored into the odds to ensure the 'house' always makes a profit or smth.
He calls Remy 'chaoui' which is the cajun french word for racoon, which is also used to indicate a sneaky and mischievous person who often hid in the shadows and pulled harmless pranks. NOT referencing the "sub groupe of the main ethnic groupe amazigh , meaning that while Moroccans have a lot of amazighs , they are not chaouia , the chaouia only live in Algeria in the aures mountains or in some parts of Tunisia near the borders" which is the main result I was getting from looking it up

A stamp

Uncanny x-men #12(2025)

I like the whole thief tradition reference and Remy understanding that it's not about honor, its about control. it's cool that he's reflecting on his upbringing and using hindsight and all his life experience to unpack the lessons he learned and choose which ones are worth keeping.
Also, when he's thinking about "youngun's to pass something on to" Jubilee is on the side of the panel with the rest of the Outliers, and that's just a cute lil nod to his relationship with her. All-in-all this issue feels like a step forward in showing the readers how he's moved on from his past, instead of just telling us that he has.
The art really hit a good spot this issue as well! I've been enjoying the kinda janky art after Marquez(I think he struggles with same face a lot) and for me the art in this issue is a good combo of unique and pretty

Alternate Universe Gambits

A stamp of gambit

TVA #3

TVA so far has been hit or miss for me, I'm not really a fan of the super clean art style, I prefer a more inky aesthetic. They seem to have flaattened Gambit's character notes to: Baking and Sad. Could be better, could be worse. I think if I view him as a side character I don't mind the characterization, but I WOULD prefer he get some page time focused on his character,,,(but only if they do a good job). I enjoyed the character moments in this issue though, everybody jumping to Jimmy's defense was very good.

A stamp of gambit

TVA #3

This little bonding moment between Remy and Jimmy was very sweet!
also who's that cat, plot relevant looking ass...
It's GOTTA be said that I am not a unbiased reader of this issue, I am here for GAMBIT, perchance my Loki hyperfixation will re-emerge(unlikely, I do not like what they're doing to my boy) but I have no strong feelings about the TVA or most of these characters. I do love Gwen but I am not familiar enough with her character to have opinions. (she is trans)

A stamp

Ultimate Wolverine #3 (2025)

I enjoy this version of Gambit! love him diversifying into other game pieces, chess piece land mines is so good, but also love that he had to have gone to SO much extra effort to acquire ALL queens, there were at LEAST four or five (I thought it was more tbh but i fact-checked halfway through this sentence) so he didn't just find a chess set somewhere and use the pieces, he went out of his way to find at LEAST two seperate chess sets and collected the queens. Something is so wrong with him
I honestly have no complaints abt this issue, I love the artstyle, its shaping up to be interesting character-wise, it doesn't feel to overcrowded, and I always love a winter soldier situation. The artstyle is so delightfully dynamic, the detailed pencil-like shading and heavy line style works so well to convey the energy.
also eyepatch Gambit ftw
I think one of the reasons I liked this so much is it's, so far, a big departure from how his character has been portrayed lately so it's refreshing.

X-men: the animated series '97

Hmm, I enjoyed some parts of this. The designs are very good, the animation isn't my favorite but it's not bad. I wasn't a fan of the Rogue/Magneto/Gambit love triangle. Other than that I loved some of the gambit moments! And ep 5 waoughajsdhlkdsf

Deadpool Vs. Wolverine 2024

A fun watch! I'm not the biggest fan of Gambit in this but I do have to give this movie credit for re-igniting my long dormant Gambit fixation. It also deserves a shoutout for giving him an actual Cajun accent. I don't really like his appearance though. He's missing Gambit's signature eyes, and the hair is way to stiff. I am glad Channing Tatum finally got to play Gambit though, it's a nice ending to that whole story.

A stamp

What If: Galactus Transformed Gambit

OOC imo but thank god he's competent and does interesting things with his powers, it's all I want. In the words of Nick Fury from some game "Too many people have made the mistake of thinking Gambit's a one-trick pony. Anybody who watches him closely should know better"
Actually now that I think about it, this is directly after the massacre, his lowest point, and he's been scooped up by a galactic being and given immense power. this is SUCH a genre shift for him, worst day of his life, and boy has he had some days. SO I think actually he would act like everything is fine and he's having a great time. BUT, it is VITALLY important, that we all know he is suffering inside.

Thoughts and Opinions and Notes

Romy

DISCLAIMER: I have not read all of the Rogue&Gambit stuff, there is a significant chance my opinion will change once I acquire more information. I see why people like the ship and no hate to them! it's fine, just not for me.
Okay, here's my hot take on romy: I don't like it as it currently is. I feel like Gambit got character assassinated in order to progress the relationship. I also love the drama heavy period of their relationship. There's a lot of juicy potential in their relationship and I adore the dynamics they have: pink/green, energy sapper and energy creator, black hole and martyr. I have a lot more opinions but I need to condense them more and find the source material that I'm thinking of.

A stamp

Romy #2 X-Men 1991 #38

Some juicy romy shit. Gambit just had a character growth moment where he doesn't kill sabretooth. Rogue overhears and says "is that a fight we can win?"(the fight being in reference to him and rogue being happy together) "[she heard] enough to realize how wrong she was to blame [him] for the things he did in [his] past when [her] own is just as messed up. [but she] also knows that [they] won't ever work right until we both accept what we've done in our lives."
When he asks when that's going to be she says hopefully soon. Cause she can't run from who she was if it means running from who she wants to be.
